July 22, 2011

Just purchased this ace rucksack from Edinburgh Cycle Company: It is the muts nuts as it has everything you can think off for adventure racing or even just general outdoors use: Bottom zip compartment has inner zip allowing you into the bottom of the big compartment – great if you have left your sandwiches at [...]

Edinburgh Rat Race 2010

July 25, 2010

My favourite adventure race. Orienteering round Edinburgh on foot and on bike with a complete mixture of activities for bonus points from karaoke to abseiling. The dream team of Mud, Sweat and beers came a respectable 16th out of 100 weekender teams! http://www.ratraceadventure.com/upload/docs/1923/edinburgh_rat_race_2010_weekender_results_sheet.pdf

The results are in!

July 10, 2010

Last weekend I was camping in Hawick near the Scottish Border and then took part on the Sunday in the Hawick Sprint Triathlon – nice pool, hilly bike but terrible weather with gale force winds and torrential rain didn’t make for much fun. However results are in and I have definitely slowed down since last [...]

Mission accomplished!

October 19, 2009

Well all done and dusted! Great race, what a triathlon, I am still buzzing. The cycle made it for me. Drafting isn’t allowed in the scottish border races that I have taken part in the past but today everyone was flat out drafting and what a difference it makes. Here is a short summary of [...]

Home for 10pm last night and In our pits for 11 ish. Should have been earlier but weren’t that tired. Anyhoo, 5am came round way too quick for my liking, quick shower, kit check, tri suit on and a leisurely cycle across to starting point at Marbella beach in Barcelona. Was dark until 8am and [...]

I’m not a gynaecologist, but ill take a look!

October 17, 2009

Arrived at apartment which is basic but clean as they say. Bikes are all in one piece and definitely recommend a set of rubber gloves to build the bike again – check the picture out. Attaching this made me think that a little app to crop, rotate, size, blur and zoom into photos then save [...]

The journey so far….

October 17, 2009

Well the trip has been eventful to say the least. After a couple of extra large americans couldn’t get their seat belts fitted Aidan and myself ended up sitting with the cabin crew. Yes we became BA trolley dollies and along with our new colleagues Beverly, Ellie and Julian (who took a particular shine to [...]

All packed, don’t forget ur bike box!

October 16, 2009

A few pics of our bike boxes from Edinburgh Triathletes, ETs which we have on loan for £10 each. Great job, very impressed with them but will wait to see how the bikes come out at the other end in barcelona Another thing to note if travelling is that BA’s oversize luggage policy has just [...]

October 15, 2009

Off to Barcelona in the morning to take part in the Olympic Triathlon. Check it out here: http://www.garminbarcelonatriathlon.com/ The last week of tapering for the event hasn’t left me feeling like a ‘coiled spring’ but time will tell
